CONCENTRATION
The definition of a phobia is an extreme or irrational fear of something. I find phobias interesting because everyone has one and they all vary in different ways. All of my pieces in my concentrated area are done in charcoal or chalk pastel. I used a technique called high intensity charcoal to make sure my blacks are as dark as they can be. I believe that most my pieces are successful due to the high contrast I was able to create. I decided to draw the girl and the dolls in color to show that her fear is taking over her. The color red is used throughout the whole piece to keep it unified. With the piece that portrays the fear of being buried alive I placed color on the high points of her face and on her fingertips. This shows that her phobia is draining the life out of her.
